What to Expect during a Sales Call

[ back ]

You can learn a great deal about a company's history, reputation, and range of products and services during a sales visit. Here's what is typically exchanged:

Background on the security company and the system manufacturer.

Your security needs and interests

A security survey . This identifies the most vulnerable areas of your home or business and the detection equipment required to provide maximum protection.

A demonstration to show a security system's ease of use and how it will protect you and your property.

A recommendation on the best way to meet the security needs and budget of your family or company.

What to expect during installation

A professional installation can take four-to-eight hours, depending on the size of your home, the type of system (wireless, hardwire or hybrid) and the number of sensors.

A small business installation can be similar to a home. Larger businesses take longer, and the time will vary according to the size and complexity of the installation.

The installation will be fairly straightforward because the planning of system components is worked out in advance. The installer follows this plan, usually carrying out the following steps:

  1. Mounting the system controller
  2. Connecting the phone to the controller
  3. Connecting the controller to the incoming phone line
  4. Installing touchpads
  5. Programming and mounting sensors and automation components
  6. Testing the system
  7. Phone system backup
A business installation can follow the above steps, but could also include installation of an access control system, closed circuit television and other commercial security equipment.
